Treatment Session

The Surface Sclerotherapy Procedure

Following an examination you will lie down on the treatment table. Your veins may be marked with a special skin marker.

Using a very small, very thin needle used specially for sclerotherapy, Dr. Wilson will carefully inject your vein with a special sclerosing chemical. The injecting needle is withdrawn and pressure is applied to the area. A cotton ball is placed on the injection site and firmly taped. Gentle pressure is applied.

Injections are continued throughout the course of the vein and then other veins are injected. Cotton balls may be taped on the vein depending upon the size of veins involved. When the entire vein has been injected and pressure applied, compression stockings are placed and the procedure is completed.
